Moana Reflective Day

Overview

A reflective day with Siobhan Burke and Paula Shanks.

The Disney Pixar film Moana, based on stories from Polynesian mythology, tells the story of Moana, the daughter of a Polynesian chief, who embarks on an epic journey to return the heart of the goddess Te Fitti after the plants and fish on her island start dying.

Like all good stories, it contains a deep wisdom that has the power to speak into our own journey through life and encourage us on the way.

In this day, we will draw on the story and its wisdom to look at themes including: finding your way without a map, risking leaving the familiar in search of new life, and learning to trust the deepest parts of yourself.

The day will contain times of gentle input, personal reflection time and the opportunity to be creative in the afternoon.

Although it would probably be helpful to have watched the film beforehand, please don’t be put off if you haven’t seen it.

We will also be showing the film on Tuesday 28th May at 7pm at St Bede’s for anyone who wishes to watch it then.

Siobhan Burke is a Spirituality Team Member at St Bede’s working in spiritual formation.

Paula Shanks is trained in Ignatian Spiritual Accompaniment with a background in teaching.
