Refund Policy
St Bede’s Pastoral Centre Refund Policy
Short courses workshops and events
We set minimum attendance numbers for our short courses workshops and events so that we can be sure of covering our costs e.g. speaker fees and administrative costs.
Where St Bede’s is unable to run short course, workshop or event
If, for any reason, we are not able to run a short course, workshop or event which you have booked with us:
- We will refund in full any monies you have paid for the short course, workshop or event
- or we may be able to transfer your money to another short course, workshop or event of your choice
- or we may be able to hold your money in the form of a Gift Voucher for a maximum of 24 months while you decide which other short course, workshop or event you would like to attend using the money
Where St Bede’s needs to cancel a short course part way through
If St Bede’s experiences difficulty in completing the delivery of a short course, we will refund a proportion of the money you have paid calculated on the number of outstanding sessions which we are unable to deliver. This is because usually we need to pay the speaker or facilitator for the sessions which they have delivered.
Where your circumstances change and you are no longer able to attend a short course,
workshop or event
If, you are not able to attend a short course workshop or event which you have booked with
us and already paid for
- if you cancel more than 10 days before the event or workshop or the first session of the short course we will refund in full any monies you have paid
- where you tell us of your wish to cancel your place 10 days or less before the event or workshop or the first session of a short course, since at this point we will be committed to paying the speaker or facilitator we will only be able to refund your money, transfer your funds to another event or course or issue a Gift Voucher if we have another person who is able to take your place and pay the full cost.
Whitby Residential Retreats
The leaflet giving information on our Residential Retreats in Whitby requests a deposit to
secure the place and clearly states that this is non-refundable. Should you book and then need to cancel after you have paid the full cost of the retreat, we can only issue a refund if we have a person on the waiting list who is willing to take your place and pays in full.
Training courses (Personal & Spiritual Development Course, Spiritual Conversation Course, York Ignatian Spiritual Accompaniment Course)
Our training course fees are posted on our website and are set out in our course information brochures and on posters.
We set a minimum starting number of participants for each course to ensure the course is
viable and we are able to pay the fees and expenses of our external tutors. We look again at the viability of a course at the beginning of each subsequent year in terms of numbers both for the overall course experience and our financial commitments to external tutors. Participants usually pay termly for our training courses.
St Bede’s needs to cancel before the start or part-way through a course
If we need to cancel a course before the start date any payment you have made will be refunded
If we need to cancel a course part-way through:
- any fees you have paid over and above the amount due for the proportion of the course we have already delivered will be refunded (e.g. if 25% of the course was delivered, you
will only be charged 25% of the course fee)
You as a Course Participant need to withdraw from a course
If you need to withdraw before the start date will refund any monies that you have paid beyond any course deposit
If you need to withdraw from the course part-way through you will need to pay or have paid a fee in proportion to the number of sessions delivered up to the date of your withdrawal (e.g. if 25% of the course had been delivered, you will be charged 25% of the course fee)
