Summer School - Icon Painting

An introduction to Icon Painting with Andrew De Smet

Following on from last year’s very successful Icon Painting Summer School Andrew De Smet will be with us again this time for 4 days in July. The Summer School will include:

• Tuition in painting a simple icon of Mary holding the infant Christ, a “Black Madonna” using the traditional medium of egg tempera and gilding the halos.
• An outline of the history and spirituality of icons and how they can be used in prayer and meditation.
• Space to pray and enter into meditation with icons.
• The tuition will consist of demonstrations of each stage and some one to one guidance as you paint.

No prior experience of icon painting is necessary.
