Spiritual accompaniment encourages you to explore a closer relationship with the mystery that we name God – the Source of Life, the Divine Presence at the heart of all things.
Many people find it difficult to notice God’s action in their daily experience. Yet, at the deepest level, there is often a longing for more conscious experience of this Holy Presence in the midst of the busyness of our lives.
In spiritual accompaniment, you are encouraged to reflect on the varied experiences of your daily life and gradually find in them the form and pattern of God’s presence.
Spiritual accompaniment is about hearing yourself explore what it going on in your life. And, in doing so, becoming more aware of what it is you mostly deeply desire and find the freedom to respond to that desire. Your accompanier will sensitively help that exploration and at times offer suggestions as to how to take it deeper.
We have a list of people who offer Spiritual Accompaniment based around the York area and are happy to try to make connections for those who are looking for accompaniment. An offering of between £15-30 per hourly session is suggested, and it is usually good to meet with your accompanier every four to six weeks (although this may vary according to personal circumstances). All meetings are confidential.
If you would like to explore the possibility further please contact us giving a few details about yourself and what you are looking for. We will ask you to complete a simple Spiritual Accompaniment Request Form and then seek a suitable match for you.
We also offer the opportunity to make the full Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius either as a 19th Annotation retreat (i.e. over 9 months in daily life meeting weekly) or, where retreatants can find their own silent accommodation, online via Zoom in either blocks or over 30 days.
